Grounded on 36 years’ work experience in both Health Care and Pharmaceutical Industry Services has instilled within Dr Mkhize deep seated Leadership and expertise knowledge of the genuine inner workings of both industries. Moreover, having operational, middle management and Senior Leadership experience has provided a more global insight into the underlying issues behind the perennial healthcare organization’ problems and how to manage them despite the entrenched bureaucracy.
Furthermore, as part of the Multi sectorial Leadership Team tasked with urgent unearthing of the perennial disease pandemics to their source, the varied experiences have imbedded this author with remarkable trans organizational coordinating skills at the innermost level. Said Multi Sectorial Teams included Heads of police, specialist academics, prison warders, WHO, NGOs, Centre of Disease Control and politicians. For example, Covid-19 and HIV/AIDS.
Whilst not inclusive, Dr Mkhize’ pivotal background is in providing strategic direction to ensure that there is adequate medicine availability for the 24 hospitals and 18 clinics served by the Department of Health in eThekwini district, South Africa. Essentially this includes providing human resource leadership, coordination, mentorship and intervention plans as needed. Such plans are mandatory even though there are facility Responsible Pharmacy Managers for the team of over 350 pharmacists, 790 Pharmacists’ Assistants and support personnel based in Primary Health Care, district, regional, tertiary and specialized care facilities.
The above stated leadership skills and experience were supported by earning degrees in: B. Pharm at the University of Limpopo, Management in Business Administration at the Management College of South Africa, and the Doctorate in Business Administration from the University of Liverpool. And of course, the invaluable DoctorateHub Team in its previous life as a consultancy only.
