Hosts
Prof. Dr. Boštjan Gomišček

I passed my viva many years ago, in 1993; however, this does not mean that I have forgotten how it was. I do recall it as it was just yesterday … After my viva, I was part of many Viva exams, of my students at bachelor, masters and PhD level as well as examination & viva committee member of many other students’ theses.

I started my research path as a young researcher at the University of Technology Vienna (Austria), where I obtained my PhD from and at University of Ljubljana (Slovenia). After finishing my PhD, I was working as a Researcher - free-lancer, when I was involved in several national and international interdisciplinary research projects working with research groups from different international universities and research institutions. My research career continued at the Austrian Academy of Science.

In 2003, I was appointed at University of Maribor, Slovenia as an Assistant Professor in the field of Quality Management and Environmental Protection Management, teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. In 2006, I was elected to Associate Professor and in 2014 to Full Professor.

From 2014 to 2021, I was engaged with the University of Wollongong in Dubai, Faculty of Business as an active researcher, with strong engagement in the development and support of the UOWD research platform, the Higher Degree by Research (PhD/DBA) program.

During all my university career time I was engaged in research and/or teaching which is evidenced in my publication record, which contains over 350 items, including journal publications, conference participations, teaching activities and other research and teaching related activities.

I hope I will be able to pass some of my experience to you and help you progressing faster in your PhD journey.

  • How it works

Weekly group sessions are hosted by mentors, coaches, and club moderators. There are both, for-free and for-fee sessions. The latter are identified with a pro icon

  • How do free group sessions work?

To attend free group sessions all that you need to do is to register for the session to receive the session link. For club sessions you may need to join the club (for free) before you can join in the specific sessions.

  • How do the Pro and Pro-light memberships work?

There will be times in your doctoral journey when you will need tighter support to accomplish a specific goal or milestone, such as putting together your thesis proposal or submitting a paper to a conference or journal. This is where our Pro and Pro-light club journeys come in that provide you with weekly written feedback and weekly group sessions. Learn more about our Club PRO and Pro-light memberships.

  • How do I find a mentor?

Our doctoral supervisors and Professors also can provide you with close one-on-one mentoring. To learn more about mentoring please take a look here.

Each Saturday, one of our mentors hosts a free, open-door session with no pre-determined agenda after the weekly webinar. The event is free to attend, but registration is required. Search and join the 'Professor is in' session from the list.

In addition, mentors might attend the weekly club sessions. The participant list shows which mentor will be there for that session.

For the more than 15 years (with the last 10 being in consultancy), I had been looking for ways to contribute to organizations that are interested in growth and broad-based development. I graduated from the DBA programme last year (2019), the course has accelerated my progress in understanding of organizations and now the doctoratehub is assisting me in sharpening these skills towards my interesting journey...I thank the providers of knowledge in the doctotratehub in providing this platform. The inputs that you impart in each session I attended is enlightening. It helps me focus on the essentials and gave me confidence during my proposal defense. The consequence of attending is I passed.
